The United Empire of the Holy Truth
Due a quirk of translation into Hochlian, the United Empire is often referred to as the Vereint empire. It is a loose theocratic state that rules over many nations, led by the Emperor and the Pontifexes from the Imperial City in the Vereint Heartland
Hochlant - The easternmost imperial state, a land of monsters and mystery, where Heart of Chaos takes place.
The Imperial South - The states of Baimarch, Westerreich, and the Imperial Heartland (Vereint). They sit in the centre of the imperial mainland.
The Imperial North - The states of Brannmark, Genrike, and Hollness. They sit at the north of the imperial mainland.
Thekland - North of the westmeer, the newest state in the empire, a cold land of swamps and rivers.
Boreasolan Lands
Librence - An iligen kingdom on the southeast coast of the mainland, known for its chivalric tradition
Valenia - An iligen kingdom on the southwest coast of the mainland, the seat of power for The Iligen Orthodox Church
Phylennos - An Island in the Boreasolan sea home to both humans and iligen, home of modern medicine.
The Elven Kingdoms
The Elven Kingdoms - The Kingdoms of Coillearnach, Talamard, and Glynry, situated on the Cold Sea beyond the Deepwoods east of Hochlant.
The Jovan Lands
The Jovan Alliance - A vast steppe to the north-east, home to many Jovan city-states.
Viharos - Once the western edge of the Jovan Alliance, they are now allied with the Empire of the Holy truth.
Snjórland
Snjórland - An island populated predominantly by elves in the northern reaches of the Tonnean Ocean, known mostly for their raiders.
Balad Annoor
Ashamsi - An Iligen nation sat at the northernmost tip of the continent of Balad Annoor (also known as the sunlit realm), the origin of modern alchemy and well-known for their academic writings and trade.
Further Afield
Imperial writings hold that the realms of the primordials lie beyond the borders of the known world. To the north, Storm, where the weather turns inhospital and the land is permenantly cold. To the south, Sun, beyond the great desert to the rest of Balad Annoor. To the west, Ocean, where the vast Tonnean ocean stretches beyond the horizon. To the east, Earth, where the mountains become impenetrable.
Other nations exist beyond those barriers into the so-called realms of the primordials. With ref discussion, a monster hunter may even come from one.
